Redeemer Community Partnership
Lead Community Organizer
Los Angeles, CA
Niki Wong is the Lead Community Organizer for Redeemer Community Partnership, a nonprofit community development corporation that has been working in South Los Angeles since 1992 to create a safe, healthy, opportunity-rich community where children, youth and their families thrive. Throughout the past 25 years, RCP has led many community organizing projects such as neighborhood beautification and closing nuisance liquor stores. Since 2014, Niki has lived half a mile from the Jefferson Drill Site, an active oil and gas extraction facility operating in the middle of her community, and serves as an organizer, public health advocate, educator, and researcher around the challenges neighbors have faced due to the drilling site. Her commitment to social equity and environmental justice combined with a background in chemistry, urban studies, and public health have greatly influenced and informed her work in grassroots advocacy. She is a founding member of the Stand Together Against Neighborhood Drilling – Los Angeles (STAND-LA) coalition. Niki has a B.A. in Urban Studies from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and served as a campus staff member with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA at her alma mater prior to moving to Los Angeles. She completed her graduate work in Public Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health.
