COASST/University of Washington
Science Coordinator
Seattle, WA
I am a citizen science practitioner with a passion for bridging science and society, research and action toward solutions to environmental issues. As the Science Coordinator for the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team, I sit at the interface of project development, participant training, data management and delivery to data users. My broad interest in citizen science is to further the real and perceived scientific merit of citizen science while facilitating experiences that participants value.
My graduate work at the University of Washington focused on involving members of the public in research on home gardens as habitat for pollinators and on investigating perceptions among mainstream scientists compared to the practices and outputs of projects.
Prior to COASST, I worked in environmental horticulture and restoration on public lands and in botanic gardens.
