Egle Marija Ramanauskaite is a science writer, educator and researcher. She received a MSc in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2011 (University of Bath, UK), and MPhil in Education Science in 2016 (Vilnius University, Lithuania). Egle has been involved in citizen science since 2014, and has studied informal learning in communities of practice at CERN (Citizen Cyberlab, Switzerland), Technarium hackerspace (Lithuania), and Human Computation Institute (HCI; USA). Since January 2016, Egle has been leading citizen science activities at HCI as Citizen Science Coordinator, and is Co-Principal Investigator on the EyesOnALZ project. Egle has co-founded and collaborated on multiple citizen science projects, including Crowd2Map – crowdsourcing a map of Tanzania to save girls from FGM, and others. She runs an open biohacking lab at Technarium hackerspace, and is engaged in related educational, outreach, and science art projects. In November 2017, Egle was awarded a Shuttleworth Foundation grant for being a social change agent.
